Friday, October 25th Shabbat Bersheit
Candle lighting for Brooklyn 5:43 PM; Tomorrow Shabbos ends: 6:42 PM Some wait 72 minutes - until 7:13 PM
Happy Friday gang! Here
we are again! After a busy beautiful Yom Tov I am personally looking forward to
this upcoming sublime, serene, spiritual, soulful, soothing Shabbat!
Post Simchat Torah, as surely
you would suspect is a VERRRRY busy time in my line of work! And it’s an
exciting one! So great to hear from former clients needing to reboot, refocus
and get back into the game! Lots of brand newbies too.
Let’s do this. It’s time to fall in love (again if need
be!!) with eating right. Please stop dreading it. Eating well
is not a prison sentence! Remaining overweight IS. Let’s get those first couple of weeks over
with – yes making changes will involve some initial discomfort. Let’s get you
through it (I’ll guide, support and encourage you every step of the way) so
that you can END your bigger discomfort. “Suffer” the pains of (re)establishing
new habits to end your suffering! The pain of establishing new habits goes away
– the pain of being overweight never, ever does. It’s always – there. In fact
it keeps getting worse and worse. And it dulls your days, it dull your life.
The days are
tick, tick, ticking away and we need to enjoy them. There is no better way to
shine on a daily basis (yes holidays and smachot are great) but it’s us, our
own selves that we have to live with each and every day. We need to be at our
best DAILY. Because it’s the daily where the magic happens and NEEDS to. And
every day should be a fabulous one – and when you have your weight and your
eating in check it brings joy to your each and every day. It makes everything
crisper, clearer, sharper and simply – much more better- er!! At the end of
each day we get the choice, we get the chance to be either disgusted with ourselves
or delighted!
Choose a life
with less worries, fears and regrets and one WITH more joy, happiness,
pleasure, pride, vim, vigor, energy, stamina, clarity, satisfaction and
delight!
I know how hard it is to
make that first phone call (an email works too!) to set up an appointment, yet
alone that second one to re-start (and often a 3rd, 4th or
5th or more)... it needn’t be difficult.. you are always welcome
back with open arms. Zero judgments. So many (I do need to
keep better records) returning clients go on to get to their goal weight and
stay there. You get as many chances as you need to *get this right*. We all fall, what matters is that we get
back up. You needn’t be great to start, but you do need to start (or restart!)
to be great.
Get excited, you can transform your life in a matter of weeks. Be in touch!

Here’s your tips, hints, etc, to be followed
by a new and FABULOUS recipe!
Shabbos… only
the best will do!! Don’t make it ordinary – make it
extraordinary !! Things to
remember, check list, food for thought:
ü Map out your food in advance. Without a map you will get lost.
Failing to plan is planning to fail. This I can guarantee you. COMMIT to filling out any changes the second
Shabbat is over. Or better yet? How about a Shabbos where you stick to your
plan fully?!!! DO IT! You’re gonna love it!
ü Stop grazing yourself “fat”. Never eat while standing. Never.
Even if it’s the healthy food that’s about to go into your salad. Save 10’s of
thousands of calories a year. Perhaps more importantly: you
will lose the need/desire to pick and nosh. AND you’ll look forward to and therefore enjoy and get
satisfaction from your meals that much more and will not “have to snack”!!!!
Win/Win/Win
ü Your body accurately counts calories, even when you’re not. You
cannot sneak it in and “hope” to get away with it. If you do decide to eat it,
do so REALIZING it comes with a “price”. You will not be the
exception. Though you’re all superstars,
last time I checked none of us Olympic Athletes in training! J
ü Much good work is lost for the lack of a little more. Yes, one
off day will set you back. Your body doesn’t know the difference between a
Shabbos or a Tuesday. Ask any carpenter what happens to the project from one
off inch. Not even “so much calorie wise” (but well, yeah) but HABIT wise.
Don’t break the chain! You will not form a pattern if you do, and those
patterns are what make this a BREEZE! All week, month, year and (healthy) life
long!
ü Stop settling for foods
that just TASTE good. Stop thinking it has to be healthy OR delicious. Make.
It. Both!! MAKE IT BOTH!! Value your HEALTH just as much
as your tastebuds! Makes sense?
ü Never have more than one
protein at a meal. Never. When? Nevah Nu-uh, don’t do it J
ü Re-think what a treat is.
It’s certainly not any food that does you more harm than good, especially given
you are looking to establish healthy habits. (the habits are more important
than the calories right now)
ü Treat yourself to a
weight LOSS, not a weight GAIN come Sunday morning. Treat yourself to
some iced tea, a glossy magazine, a new pillow and blanket, a soft night gown,
a new pair of slippers, a new mug. Treat yourself to pride, control, power!!
There are endless ways to treat yourself – even (especially!!) on Shabbos, that
don’t involve ingesting sugar and fat.
ü You don’t have to have
something just because it’s there. It’s okay to tell
yourself no. No to the food and YES to you and your dreams, I mean your goals.
Turn those dreams into REALITY!
ü Don’t take that first
bite, don’t take that first bite, don’t take that first bite. “If I
don’t have the first bite, I won’t have 20 bites.” Don’t tell yourself this
time will be different, because it won’t be. PUSH YOURSELF DON'T
TAKE THAT FIRST BITE! (yes, it's that simple!!) Additionally: Don’t take that
first bite!!
ü Never eat twice in the
same hour. Never. When? Nevah.
ü Food is not entertainment. But books, games, walks,
conversations are!
ü Tea has zero calories as does water and seltzer – nibble on
THAT. Throughout the day. HYDRATE!!
ü Push yourself. Use that self-talk and talk yourself
OUT of eating that stuff not INTO eating it. Take as long as you need till
you’ve come to the conclusion – “no thanks, I’d rather be fit, free and
FABULOUS! I’M the boss of me, not that
food that leaves me feeling miserable.” Remember, you want to feel BETTER
after you've eaten than before! Remember, come the night time you want to be
PROUD of yourself, not frustated and annoyed! Eat to feel AMAZING 24/7/365!
ü Eating well on Shabbos or any other day of the week is not about
punishing & depriving yourself, but giving yourself the gift of optimal
health, self confidence, self respect, self worth, self esteem, dignity, pride,
integrity, stamina, energy, (and a fabulous wardrobe)
Check out
this recipe! I make these using ground turkey. And instead of meatballs, I make them meatovals,
meaning I make them in an oval shape. They freeze fabulously too! Family and
company can’t believe they’re turkey and can’t believe how DELICIOUS they are!
Neither can I!! (I LOVE food by the way, in case y’all didn’t know by now J )
Have
yourselves a simply sensational Shabbat. Stay satiated!! Vicki
