I'm all about explaining thus educating. Knowledge is power. I always tell my clients:  once you KNOW why ABC is a better choice than XYZ it will make it soooo much clearer to you why you "should" steer clear of XYZ and turn to ABC. (Weird choice of words for me, or I guess letters). Thus making your decisions so much easier. Clarity. Knowledge is power. 

So many will do ANYTHING to avoid looking at and LEARNING about calories. Every diet will twist and turn and lure you in by actually "bragging" about no need to count calories. WW even turned them into points to avoid the C word. It's not a dirty word! It simply is a way of measuring energy. 


Just like money is a way of measuring cost. 


You wouldn't DREAM of buying something and have them charge it to your credit card and a week later you SEE that bill and are now STUCK with paying it. No refunds allowed, nu uh.  The damage is already done.  There is not taking it back. If only you had known, you wouldn't have bought all that!! You WOULDN'T have spent that much. Hmmm, were there in fact less expensive items that you would have preferred to know about? Ones that didn't leave you in debt?!! Did you really NEED all of that? You need to know AHEAD of time what you are SPENDING so you can make the right decisions. It makes your choices clearer, simpler! Knowledge is power. Please stop giving yours away!







Numbers don't lie!  Here are some powerful ones. 

First, let's take a look at some ingredients. Clients are SHOCKED to see these numbers. Shocked! 


Calories in:

1 tablespoon sugar...................49
1 cup sugar.............................775


Check out this next one. 

1 tablespoon honey............64
1 cup...............................1031



Yup, there is more sugar in honey than there is in sugar itself!!

There are more simple ("bad") carbs in honey than in sugar. And please do not fool yourself and say that "at least honey is natural". So is cocaine. Crack is processed. Which is the better of two evils? I'm not going there! Get my point? Good!. 


Sugar is sugar. There are no benefits. 
There is no way to - sugar coat it. (pun intended)


Let's talk - oil. All oils have the same exact calories. Canola and Olive are heart healthier. However, even those need to be used in extreme moderation.  Eating more of healthy foods won't, in fact make you healthy; they will just make you, well, overweight. So watch it when you are drizzling it on. If you're wondering why you are eating all healthy foods and not losing weight (and are in fact gaining).. well there ya go. It's a fine line between weight loss, weight maintenance and weight GAIN. Much good work is lost for the lack of a little more.

1 cup sugar………….774 calories             1 cup honey…..1031 calories
½ cup oil……………..954 calories           4 eggs……………320 calories
2 tsps orange zest..6 calories                  1 cup orange juice…110 calories
2 ½ cups flour…..1178 calories                3 tsps each baking powder
½ tsp salt…………0 calories                       & baking soda………..10 calories                         
Total calories….4383    1/12= 365 cals, 11 gms fat, 41.8 gms sugar, .08 gms fiber    1/16=275 cals. 8.2 gms fat, 31.4 gms sugar, .06 gms fiber

And the breakdown for a typical Apple Kugel 

Apple Kugel   9 x 13 pan
4 eggs, beaten…. 320 calories                 1 cup sugar……….774 calories
2 tsp cinnamon….12 calories                   ½ cup oil………..954 calories
1 cup flour…………455 calories              1 tsp baking powder..2 calories
6 apples.. appox….540 calories               ½ cup raisins, optional…245 calories

Total calories………3299……….. without raisins…..3054
1/12= 275 calories, 30.3 gms sugar, 11.2 gms fat     1/16= 207 calories, 8.4 gms fat, 22.7 gms sugar
